Professional School Turf Installation Services for Campuses

Schools need outdoor spaces that stay clean, safe, and ready for students every day of the school year. Natural grass on busy campuses wears thin, turns muddy after rain, and often leaves dirt tracked into hallways and classrooms. Artificial grass for schools solves these problems with a surface that stays even and usable through heavy daily traffic. A successful school artificial turf installation depends on careful grading, a compacted base, and drainage that clears water quickly.

Our owner worked with turf for more than twenty years before founding Turf Restoration and Design in 2020, and that experience shapes the professional school turf installation services we provide today.

Our Services

We work across four commercial categories, and a single campus often needs several of them, from a rated play surface to a field to a courtyard.

School Playground Turf for Recess Areas

Recess areas take a beating from hundreds of students running, jumping, and playing every day. Worn grass turns into bare dirt, and loose mulch ends up on sidewalks and inside classrooms. School playground turf keeps these areas soft, tidy, and ready for play even soon after a rainy morning. Shock pads can be added under the turf in fall zones to help cushion impact around play equipment.

Turf Restoration and Design is licensed, insured, and a member of the National Synthetic Turf Council, and we plan each recess area around student age groups and existing equipment. Our playground turf installation page explains more about play surface options.

Benefits of Our Service

Recess Happens on More Days of the Year

A drained surface is usable within a short time of rain rather than the following afternoon, which returns outdoor time that a wet week currently takes away.

Fall Protection Stops Depending on Someone Raking

A bonded surface holds its depth permanently, so the protection you paid for is still there in year three without anyone topping up mulch or checking depth markers.

Accessible Routes Are Built In Rather Than Added Later

Firmness and stability are designed into the surface from the start, which is considerably cheaper than retrofitting an accessible route once a complaint or an audit raises it.

Fewer Pesticide Notifications to Send Home

LoreConverted ground needs no herbicide or fertilizer, which removes both the exposure and the paperwork on the areas children use most.

Low-Maintenance School Landscaping for Courtyards & Campus Grounds

Mowers and leaf blowers running outside classroom windows can disrupt lessons and testing days. Low-maintenance school landscaping with artificial turf removes that noise and reduces the workload on small grounds crews. Courtyards, entry lawns, and outdoor classrooms stay green and presentable for parents, visitors, and school events. Turf also cuts water use and removes the need for fertilizers and pesticides near students.

Turf Restoration and Design plans installation around your school calendar, including summer and holiday breaks, so work does not interrupt the school day. Our own team handles every step with our own equipment, and we never pass the job to a subcontractor.

Synthetic Turf Installation for PE Classes & Multi-Use Fields

Many schools share one open field between PE classes, recess, marching band practice, and after-school clubs. That constant use leaves natural grass rutted and uneven, which can make activities less safe for students. Synthetic turf installation gives these multi-use fields a surface that stays level and playable from the first bell to the last. Painted or inlaid lines can mark areas for different activities without daily setup.

Turf Restoration and Design builds each field with base preparation, drainage, and seams designed to sit flat for years. Schools planning full competition fields can explore our artificial sports turf installation service for stadium and varsity projects.

Our Work Process

01

We Audit the Equipment and the Use Zones

We measure the fall height of every piece of equipment from the highest designated play surface, then map the use zone around each one, which is nearly always larger than people assume.

02

We Schedule the Build Into a Break

The work is planned against your calendar and broken into stages that each finish cleanly, so a longer project can run across two holidays rather than intruding on term time.

03

We Install and Hand Over the Documentation

The pad goes across the full use zone, the turf is anchored flat with no lifted edges anywhere children run, and you receive the written specification, pad rating and fall height at completion.

What People Are Saying About Us

Testimonials

    Karen M.

    Milton, GA

We had a strip of yard that never grew anything but weeds and mud. They regraded the whole thing before they laid anything down, which nobody else who quoted us even brought up. Two summers in and it still looks like the day they finished.

      Derrick H.

      Johns Creek, GA

Two labs and a yard that turned into a swamp every time it rained. They walked us through the drainage and the pet infill instead of just handing over a number, and there is no smell at all. The dogs took about ten seconds to decide they approved.

        Tom B.

        Roswell, GA

I asked for a putting green and they came back with a layout that used a slope I thought was a problem. Three real breaks on it now and it rolls true. They were on site every day and cleaned up behind themselves every evening.

          Angela R.

          Peachtree Corners, GA

Our courtyard was costing us a fortune in irrigation and yearly sod repair. They phased the work so tenants were never fully blocked off, and they hit the dates they gave us. That maintenance line has basically disappeared from the budget.

Artificial Turf vs Natural Grass for Educational Environments

Natural grass for educational environments still has real benefits, including a cooler surface on hot days and a softer, natural feel. However, it needs constant watering, mowing, and reseeding, and it often cannot keep up with daily student traffic. Artificial turf offers year-round use and lower upkeep, though it can get warmer in direct sun, so shade and play schedules are worth planning. The right choice depends on how each space is used and the school's budget.

Turf Restoration and Design helps schools compare both options honestly before recommending an approach. Our turf is made locally and is 100 percent recyclable, and every project includes a 15 year material warranty and a 5 year labor warranty

          Frequently Asked Questions

At minimum, the fall height the system was built to and the rating of the pad used to achieve it, because that is what demonstrates the surface matches the equipment standing on it. A turf product certificate on its own is not enough, since ASTM F1292 applies to the installed assembly rather than to the grass. We provide that specification in writing at handover so it can go straight into your facilities file. If your district has a particular form or format, tell us before we start and we will complete it.
It can, but a break is better wherever the calendar allows it. If the work has to happen in term time we hoard the area off completely, sequence it so only one zone is out of use at a time, and coordinate deliveries and machinery around arrival, dismissal and lunch. We have done it both ways. The honest answer is that a summer or a long break gives you a cleaner result with less disruption, so if the project can wait a term it usually should.
That is a specification question rather than a durability question. The same turf that lasts fifteen years in a courtyard will wear early under a swing bay or on the line everyone runs to the gate, so we increase face weight, base depth and anchoring in those zones rather than applying one build across the campus. We also design around where children actually go instead of where the paths are drawn, because the shortcut across the corner is where the wear will happen whatever anyone intends.
We use mineral and coated sand infills in school play areas and do not use crumb rubber, which is the material most parent questions are actually about. Ask any installer for the product data sheet rather than a reassurance, and it is reasonable to ask whether the fibers and backing are PFAS-free. If your district has a procurement standard or an approved materials list, we will specify to it. Being able to answer a parent's question with a document rather than an opinion is worth having.
The surface usually stays. New equipment often has a different fall height, so the first thing to check is whether the existing pad still rates for it, and taller equipment may need the pad upgraded in that zone. The turf itself can be lifted and relaid around new footings rather than replaced wholesale, and the base underneath is reusable. Tell us before you order the equipment and we will confirm what the current system supports, which is a great deal cheaper than finding out afterwards.

Count the recess periods cancelled for wet ground, the PE lessons moved indoors, the hours spent raking mulch back into the swing bays and the mud tracked across the building every winter. That is what a converted surface gives back.

            Area We Serve

School work lives or dies on hitting a date, because a break is a fixed window and a campus cannot absorb an overrun into term time. Keeping our service area tight is how we protect those schedules, and it means we can return quickly if equipment changes and a use zone needs extending, or if something needs checking before an inspection.
