Artificial Grass for Churches and Places of Worship

Churches, synagogues, mosques, and temples welcome people every week, and the grounds are often the first thing visitors notice. Natural grass needs regular mowing, watering, and repair, which can strain a small budget and a busy volunteer team. Artificial turf for churches keeps lawns green and tidy all year without that ongoing work. It also turns muddy or patchy areas into spaces the congregation can actually use. Good place of worship landscaping starts with a solid base and proper drainage, so the surface stays even for years.

Turf Restoration and Design is built on honesty, service, and craftsmanship, and we bring those same values to every faith community we serve. We schedule installation around services, weddings, funerals, festivals and whatever else the calendar holds, and we do not subcontract, so the people on your property are our own crew.

Our Services

We work across four commercial categories, and congregations frequently need more than one of them, since a single property can hold a gathering lawn, a play area and a sports field.

Low-Maintenance Church Landscaping for Entrances & Grounds

Many churches rely on volunteers to mow, trim, and water before every service. When those volunteers are busy or unavailable, the grounds can quickly look overgrown. Low-maintenance church landscaping with artificial turf keeps entrances, walkway borders, and front lawns neat without weekly upkeep. It also removes the need for sprinklers that soak sidewalks just before people arrive. That frees up both money and time for ministry work instead of lawn care.

Turf Restoration and Design never hands a job to a subcontractor, so our own team completes the project with little disruption to your service schedule. Much of our work comes from referrals, and many faith communities find us through their own members.

Benefits of Our Service

Grounds Money Goes Back Into Ministry

Mowing, irrigation, fertilizer and reseeding stop repeating every year, which converts a permanent operating cost into a single capital item with a known life.

No Volunteer Has to Give Up Another Saturday

The people currently keeping the grounds together are usually the same people already carrying several other roles, and this hands them their weekends back.

The Property Looks Ready Whatever the Week Holds

A funeral, a wedding or a visitor arriving unannounced all find the same grounds, with no dormant season and no worn paths across the lawn.

Firm Footing for a Congregation of Every Age

LoreA stable, level surface with no soft patches or ruts is what allows an older member with a walker or a cane to use the outdoor space rather than watch it from a window.

Church Playground Turf for Children's Ministries

Children's ministries need outdoor play areas that are clean, safe, and ready for use after Sunday school. Mulch gets scattered, dirt turns to mud, and worn grass can leave hard patches under swings and slides. Church playground turf gives kids a soft, even surface that stays tidy and cuts down on dirty shoes in hallways. Padding can be added under the turf to help cushion falls in play zones.

Turf Restoration and Design is licensed, insured, and a member of the National Synthetic Turf Council, and we plan each play area around the equipment you already have. You can learn more on our playground turf installation page, and churches that run a preschool can also explore our school turf installation service.

Turf for Church Courtyards & Outdoor Worship Spaces

Many congregations hold outdoor services, fellowship meals, baptisms, and holiday gatherings on church grounds. Courtyards and lawns used for these events need a surface that stays dry and looks welcoming for every occasion. Artificial turf supports chairs, tables, and tents without leaving ruts, and it recovers right away after a crowd. Prayer gardens and memorial spaces also benefit because the turf stays green and peaceful through every season.

Turf Restoration and Design designs these areas to blend with existing trees, benches, and hardscape. Our turf is made locally and is 100 percent recyclable, which fits well with churches that value caring for creation.

Our Work Process

01

We Walk the Grounds With Your Property Team

We meet your trustees, property committee or facilities lead on site, look at every area, and establish what is causing the most work and the most cost. Not everything needs converting, and we will say so.

02

We Phase It to Fit the Budget and the Calendar

We break the property into stages that can each be approved and funded separately, ordered by which areas give back the most soonest, so the first phase can start paying for the next.

03

We Install Around Your Services and Hand Back Clean

Work is scheduled between services and events, access routes stay open throughout, and the site is cleared at the end of each day rather than left mid-job over a weekend.

What People Are Saying About Us

Testimonials

    Karen M.

    Milton, GA

We had a strip of yard that never grew anything but weeds and mud. They regraded the whole thing before they laid anything down, which nobody else who quoted us even brought up. Two summers in and it still looks like the day they finished.

      Derrick H.

      Johns Creek, GA

Two labs and a yard that turned into a swamp every time it rained. They walked us through the drainage and the pet infill instead of just handing over a number, and there is no smell at all. The dogs took about ten seconds to decide they approved.

        Tom B.

        Roswell, GA

I asked for a putting green and they came back with a layout that used a slope I thought was a problem. Three real breaks on it now and it rolls true. They were on site every day and cleaned up behind themselves every evening.

          Angela R.

          Peachtree Corners, GA

Our courtyard was costing us a fortune in irrigation and yearly sod repair. They phased the work so tenants were never fully blocked off, and they hit the dates they gave us. That maintenance line has basically disappeared from the budget.

Church Recreation Field Turf for Youth Programs & Community Events

Church lawns often host youth group games, vacation Bible school, fall festivals, and community outreach days. These activities wear down natural grass fast, especially in open areas where kids run and play. A turf recreation field gives youth programs a reliable space that is ready whenever an event is planned. It also allows churches to open their grounds to neighborhood groups without worrying about lawn damage.

Turf Restoration and Design builds these fields with the same base and drainage methods we use for larger artificial sports turf installation projects. Each field is backed by a 15 year material warranty and a 5 year labor warranty for lasting peace of mind.

          Frequently Asked Questions

Usually not in the way people assume. Title III of the ADA specifically exempts religious organizations and entities they control, and the Department of Justice reads that exemption broadly enough to cover a school or day care the congregation itself operates. The exemption has real limits though: it does not cover employment if you have fifteen or more employees, it does not extend to an outside secular tenant renting your space, and federal funding or state and local building codes can create obligations of their own. Most congregations we work with build accessible anyway, because an ageing membership needs it. Check with your own counsel rather than relying on a contractor for the legal position.
Yes, and for most congregations that is the sensible way to do it. We divide the property into zones that each stand alone as a complete piece of work, price them separately, and sequence them so the areas that consume the most maintenance are done first. That way the savings from phase one are already reducing the operating budget while phase two is still going through approval. Nothing about the phasing compromises the finished result, because each zone is built to the same specification whenever it happens.
It is one of the applications congregations are most glad they did, though the specification matters more here than anywhere else on the property. We use a softer, more natural-looking product than we would on a gathering lawn, cut it tight around every marker so there is no visible gap or bare edge, and design the drainage to move water away from stonework. The practical gain is that a family visiting on an anniversary finds the garden the same as it was in June, and nobody is running a string trimmer around a headstone.
It depends on the product and the detailing, and this is a fair concern rather than a sentimental one. Cheap turf reads as plastic against old stone or brick, so on a heritage property we specify a multi-tone product with a natural thatch layer and a longer pile that does not look manicured. The detailing does most of the work: turf cut tight to stone edges with no visible border, seams planned away from the main approach, and existing planting worked around rather than removed. We will bring samples and show you finished work before you commit, and if we think a particular area would be better left as it is, we will tell you.
With a whole-life comparison rather than an install price. We provide a written proposal that sets the capital figure against your current annual grounds spend, including water, mowing, treatments and reseeding, so the board can see the point at which it pays back and what it saves after that. Phasing the project keeps each approval to a manageable size. It also helps to name the ministry impact directly, because a board approving a lawn is a harder conversation than a board redirecting a recurring cost.

What Could Your Grounds Budget Fund Instead?

            Contact Us

Add up the mowing, the water, the fertilizer, the reseeding and the volunteer hours your grounds consume in a year. That figure is what a conversion is competing against, and for most congregations it is larger than anyone has stopped to total.

            Area We Serve

Congregational work depends on a contractor who will keep to an agreed schedule, because a service does not move and a funeral cannot be rearranged around a delayed crew. Keeping our service area compact is how we protect those commitments, and it means we are close by if a phase two is approved or something needs attention before a particular Sunday.
