Pool Turf Installation Built for Bare Feet and Constant Splash

Step out of the water onto a surface that grips when it is wet and drains before you have found your towel.
We size poolside turf around splash-out volume first, then choose the infill for heat and lock the edges for bare feet.

Artificial Turf Around Pool Areas for a Cleaner Backyard

Natural grass near a pool creates constant problems for homeowners. Clippings blow into the water, wet feet track mud onto the deck, and splashed chlorine leaves brown patches along the edges. Artificial turf around the pool keeps the area green, clean, and ready for swimming without mowing or reseeding. It also cuts down on the debris that clogs skimmers and filters.

The right turf around a pool needs strong drainage, secure edges, and materials that handle constant moisture. Turf Restoration and Design is a family owned company built on honesty, service, and craftsmanship, and we bring that approach to every backyard pool project we take on.

Turf Restoration and Design builds pool surrounds with our own crew, and we design the drainage before we choose anything else. We calculate the base around how much water actually leaves your pool rather than applying a standard depth, we specify a cooling infill for every full-sun poolside job as standard rather than as an upsell, and we usually recommend keeping a narrow band of hard, non-slip decking at the water's edge with the turf starting just behind it, which gives you the best of both surfaces. Because we do not subcontract, the person who assesses your splash zone is the person who builds it.

Our Services

Poolside turf is one of five residential systems we build. The turf, the infill and the base are specified separately for each one, because the demands are not remotely the same.

Artificial Turf for Pool Deck Surfaces

Concrete and stone pool decks can get hot, feel rough on bare feet, and show cracks and stains over time. Artificial turf for a pool deck adds a softer surface that is easier on feet and more comfortable for kids who spend all day outside. Turf with a textured feel can offer better footing than slick tile when it is wet. Like any outdoor surface, turf can warm up in direct sun, so shade and a quick rinse help on hot afternoons.

Turf Restoration and Design is licensed, insured, and a member of the National Synthetic Turf Council. We check deck slope and drain locations before installation so water moves away from the pool.

Benefits of Our Service

Traction Where People Are Wet and Barefoot

Turf fibers give bare feet more grip than smooth coping or sealed pavers do, which is exactly where slips tend to happen.

Splash-Out Disappears Instead of Pooling

Water goes straight through the backing and into the base rather than sitting in puddles that stay warm, go stale and eventually smell.

Nothing Ends Up in the Filter

No mowing means no clippings, and no bare soil means no mud, so the two things that clog a pool filter simply stop arriving.

A Softer Landing Than Concrete

LoreChildren run around a pool no matter how often they are told not to, and turf over a compacted base is considerably kinder to knees than a hard deck.

Poolside Lounge & Entertaining Area Turf

Many families spend as much time next to the pool as they do in it. Poolside lounge areas need a surface that supports chairs, umbrellas, and outdoor furniture without leaving dents or dead spots. Turf creates a soft, green space for sunbathing, family meals, and summer parties. It can also connect the pool to an outdoor kitchen, fire pit, or play area with one consistent look.

Turf Restoration and Design plans these spaces around how your family gathers and moves through the yard. Our turf is made locally and is 100 percent recyclable, and some homeowners also add a backyard putting green nearby for extra fun between swims.

Splash Zone Drainage for Artificial Turf Around Swimming Pools

The splash zone takes more water than any other part of the backyard. Artificial turf around a swimming pool must drain quickly, or puddles form and the surface stays soggy. A permeable backing and a compacted stone base let water pass straight through instead of sitting on top. Turf in this area should also handle chlorine or salt water without fading or breaking down early.

Seams and edges need extra care because repeated soaking can loosen poorly secured turf. Turf Restoration and Design builds pool surrounds with seams that still sit flat years later, even with daily splashing all summer long.

Our Work Process

01

We Measure the Splash Zone, Not Just the Area

We look at where water actually lands, how the deck currently sheds it and where it drains to now. A diving board, a slide or a water feature changes the volume enough to change the build.

02

We Build Drainage That Carries Water Away From the Pool

The base is graded so splash-out and rinse water move away from the pool structure rather than back toward it, and where the ground cannot take the volume we run it to an outlet.

03

We Fit It, Lock the Coping Edge and Set the Infill

The turf is cut tight to the coping and every hard edge is anchored flat so nothing catches a wet toe, then the cooling infill is broomed in. We hose the whole surround down with you before we leave.

What People Are Saying About Us

Testimonials

    Karen M.

    Milton, GA

We had a strip of yard that never grew anything but weeds and mud. They regraded the whole thing before they laid anything down, which nobody else who quoted us even brought up. Two summers in and it still looks like the day they finished.

      Derrick H.

      Johns Creek, GA

Two labs and a yard that turned into a swamp every time it rained. They walked us through the drainage and the pet infill instead of just handing over a number, and there is no smell at all. The dogs took about ten seconds to decide they approved.

        Tom B.

        Roswell, GA

I asked for a putting green and they came back with a layout that used a slope I thought was a problem. Three real breaks on it now and it rolls true. They were on site every day and cleaned up behind themselves every evening.

          Angela R.

          Peachtree Corners, GA

Our courtyard was costing us a fortune in irrigation and yearly sod repair. They phased the work so tenants were never fully blocked off, and they hit the dates they gave us. That maintenance line has basically disappeared from the budget.

Artificial Turf Pool Borders for Fence Lines & Equipment Areas

The narrow strips between a pool deck and a fence are hard to mow and often end up full of weeds. Areas around pool pumps, filters, and heaters also struggle because of shade, water runoff, and limited access. An artificial turf pool border keeps these tight spaces neat and green with almost no upkeep. It also gives a clean, finished edge to the whole pool area.

Turf Restoration and Design cuts and fits turf around posts, pipes, and equipment pads, and our own team handles every step. Each project includes a 15 year material warranty and a 5 year labor warranty, and you can extend the look with our lawn turf installation service.

          Frequently Asked Questions

Not at the concentrations a residential pool runs. Quality polyethylene and polypropylene fibers are chemically resistant well beyond the one to three parts per million a pool is normally maintained at, and saltwater pool levels are also well within tolerance. The real risk is concentrated chemicals, so if you spill undiluted chlorine or acid while dosing, rinse it immediately and keep the chemical store off the turf. A weekly hose down clears residue before it dulls the fibers.
It grips better than the alternatives. Turf fibers and a permeable backing give a wet bare foot more traction than smooth coping, sealed concrete or tile, all of which get slick the moment they are wet. That said, we still normally keep a narrow band of hard, non-slip decking right at the water's edge and start the turf just behind it. That combination gives you the safest surface where people push off and the softer one everywhere else.
Warm, and honestly so. Synthetic turf holds heat in direct sun because it has no moisture to evaporate, and the infill is what decides how much. Lab testing has put black crumb rubber infill at around 195 degrees under strong light against roughly 95 degrees for a mineral infill in the same conditions, which is why we never use crumb rubber poolside. With a lighter turf and a cooling infill the surface stays well below a concrete deck, and thirty seconds with the hose drops it further. Shade over the lounge area helps more than any product choice.
Down through the backing, into the aggregate base and away to an outlet, which is why we size the base for pool volume rather than rainfall. A busy afternoon puts far more water on the ground around a pool than a storm does, and it arrives in the same few spots every time. If the ground will not absorb that volume, we run a drain line rather than hoping it disperses. This is the single most common thing cheaper poolside installs get wrong.
Some migrates toward the edges over time, which is normal and easy to correct. We recommend checking infill levels roughly every quarter on a poolside install, compared with far less often on a standard lawn, and brushing against the grain monthly to lift the fibers and redistribute what is there. Topping up is a small job. If you would rather not do it yourself, it is part of our turf maintenance service.

How Would Turf Change the Way Your Pool Area Feels?

            Contact Us

The only way to answer that is to stand at your pool and look at where the water goes, where the sun sits and where people actually walk. We will do that with you and tell you which parts of the surround are worth converting and which are better left as hard deck.

            Area We Serve

Pool surrounds are a summer job in a climate where summer is the busiest time of year for this work, so we book them early and keep the schedule tight. Working inside a compact radius is how we manage that without handing jobs to subcontractors, and it means we are close by if you want to extend the area later or add a lounge zone.
